A school day

Spanish and English, hour by hour

Every day has both languages, in the same order, so children know what comes next.

  1. 8:00 a.m.

    Step 1: Arrival

A guide greets each child at the door in Spanish and in English. Children hang up their coats and choose a first center.

  2. 8:30 a.m.

Step 2: Morning circle, in Spanish

Songs, the day and the weather, and a name for each helper. Children answer in whichever language comes.

  3. 9:00 a.m.

    Step 3: Centers, in both

Blocks, art, books and the home corner. One guide speaks Spanish and one speaks English, and each takes a few centers.

  4. 10:15 a.m.

Step 4: Snack at the table

Children set the table and pass the plates. Talk at the table is in whichever language the children bring.

  5. 10:45 a.m.

    Step 5: The yard

Time outside for running, digging and watering the garden beds, with a guide for each language.

  6. 11:45 a.m.

Step 6: Story hour, in English

A picture book read aloud, then a rhyme or a song, in English.

  7. 12:30 p.m.

    Step 7: Lunch and rest

Half-day children go home. The others eat lunch from home, and the youngest rest afterward.

  8. 2:00 p.m.

    Step 8: Afternoon

Art, the garden and a second circle in English. School-day children go home at 3:00 p.m.; full-day children stay for free play and the yard until 5:30 p.m.

Why the order matters

A child who knows what comes next can give a morning full attention. The guides keep the rhythm steady, and they change it only when the weather or a child's needs ask for it.

Who speaks what

Spanish and English with children and with families

We say plainly who speaks what, so you know who to ask.

  • In the Sol room

Two guides share the day: songs and routines in Spanish, snack and play in English.

  • In the Luna room

Metzli leads the Spanish circle and the counting games, and a second guide reads the English story.

  • In the Estrella room

Jazel leads the English centers and the afternoon story, and a second guide reads aloud in Spanish.

  • With families

Every guide speaks both languages with families. Ask your question in whichever one you like.

  • Notes home

The weekly note comes in Spanish and English. Tell us which to send first.

  • By phone and message

Call, send a WhatsApp message or send us the form, in Spanish or English.

Ask in the language you like

We reply in Spanish or English, whichever you write in.
