Questions families ask

If yours isn't here, ask us. We would rather hear it before the tour.

What ages and hours do you have?

We take children from age 2 to age 5, Monday to Friday. A half day runs from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the school day to 3:00 p.m., and the full day from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Do children need to speak either language to start?

No. Children come with Spanish, with English or with both, and the guides meet them where they are. Every guide speaks both languages with families.

How do Spanish and English share the day?

Morning circle is in Spanish and story hour is in English. At centers one guide speaks each language, and at the table and in the yard children use whichever language they bring.

How does a tour work?

A tour takes about an hour, on a weekday morning while the rooms are working. You watch, ask questions and are welcome to bring your child. Book online or message us.

What sets tuition?

The room, your child's age and the schedule you pick. We don't print figures here; we go through the figures with you at the tour.

How is a place held, and how does the waitlist work?

Enrollment forms and the first month's payment hold a place. When a room is full, families join a waitlist by room and schedule, and we offer places in the order families joined.

Is the school licensed?

Yes. Manzanita is licensed by the California Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division.

Will we get notes in our language?

Yes. The weekly note comes in Spanish and English, and you can tell us which to send first. Replies to your questions come in the language you write in.

How does toilet learning work?

Children in the Luna and Estrella rooms use the toilet on their own, with a guide close by to help. If your child is still learning, tell us at the tour and we will talk it through together.

What do you do on a hard morning?

A guide sits with the child, says what is happening in plain words, in the language the child understands most easily, and offers a quiet corner, a drink of water or a job to do with their hands. We tell you about it at pickup.

Still have a question?

Send it to us in Spanish or English. We reply within one working day.
